Weekly Update 9-9-2016
It has been a busy week in Exploration Academy! All students participated in workshops on using google docs, science labs and learning targets, how to use Project Foundry, and others. In addition, students began their Aleks math course, took the Achieve pre-assessment, and went through a training on setting up various accounts on their iPads.
As with anytime you roll out new technology we did run into some software issues that caused a little bit of down time. We have most of those issues resolved, so those should be limited as we get further into the curriculum.
Next week we will have a number of seminars beginning. Mr. Lewis will be running a Communication Seminar focused on literary analysis, and Mr. Bruss will be running a seminar on Anatomy and Physiology. In addition, Mr Welty will be leading a seminar on the project process that will focus on the impact on global historical issues on local community. Finally we are starting our math seminars on geometry, algebra, and algebra II.
Next Friday, September 16 all EA students will be going on field trip to the Wisconsin River during the school day. Students will be canoeing a short stretch of the river and stopping for lunch on a sand bar. Permission slips have been sent home with all students. Please ask your students about those forms and return them by no later than Wednesday of next week.
Two final notes to pass along. First, we have attached the Exploration Academy calendar for the year. It has all the significant dates including days off and showcases. Also, please make sure your student is bringing their iPad to school. We are still resolving some network issues and need their iPad running on the school network to make those changes.
Attached are a few photos from the week. We hope you have a great weekend. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
